“Does the Internet Make IT Stupid?” by Nick Carr

Made famous by his article “Does IT Matter?” in 2003, Nicholas Carr drives the point nine years later with his latest book “The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains.” He sees the web as a great source of intellectual laziness and feels that for business, new technologies like the cloud reinforce the purely utilitarian and non-differentiating nature of IT. For him, CIOs should focus on a company’s end customers and become a strategic support for the business.
